The rules,
all in one
place
17 players, 48 teams, β¬170 in the pot. Below is exactly how the money moves, how the draw stays honest, and how to win a bucket.
At a glance
β¬10 a head Γ 17 players = β¬170. The host tracks who's actually paid up separately (yes, they can see you).
Prizes
The owner of the team that lifts the trophy takes the lion's share. Simple as that.
So close. The owner of the beaten finalist still walks away with a tidy consolation.
The wooden spoon with a twist: owner of the team that CONCEDES the most goals across the whole tournament wins. Defend badly, win cash.
β¬120 + β¬40 + β¬10 = β¬170. Every cent goes back out.
Two teams equally porous? We break the tie, in order:
- 1Fewest goals scored (truly bad, not just busy).
- 2Earliest elimination (out first = more deserving).
- 3A coin flip, witnessed and final.
The draw
48 teams, 17people. The maths doesn't divide cleanly, so:
To keep it fair, the 3 unlucky souls who only get 2 teams are compensatedwith stronger sides, so everyone's total squad strength lands roughly even. It's a pot-seeded, balanced draft β not a free-for-all. See the team rankings & how the draw works β
No funny business. The draw is seeded from the exact moment the last person signs upβ impossible to predict or rig. That timestamp is published after, and the algorithm is open & re-runnable.
When does it happen?
The draw fires the moment all 17players have registered β not a second before. Watch the live X/17 counter on the home page. Last one in triggers it for everyone, so nag your slowest friend.
How it plays out
12 groups of 4. The top 2 of every group advance, plus the 8 best 3rd-placed teams β 32 teams into the knockouts.
Round of 32 β R16 β Quarters β Semis β Final, with a 3rd-place playoff on the side. Win or go home.
The whole site updates itself as results come in. When a team is knocked out it greys out everywhere β no refreshing, no arguing.
With 12 groups, finishing 2nd guarantees nothing and finishing 3rd doesn't doom you. All twelve 3rd-placed teams are ranked against each other, and the top 8 sneak into the Round of 32. So a strong third can still go all the way.
Level on points? We separate teams by:
- 1Points.
- 2Goal difference.
- 3Goals scored.
Quick answers
Nope β that's the whole point of a sweepstakes. The draw is random (and provably fair), so you'll be cheering for countries you've never heard of by week two.
